Campus for a Day Visits
On Monday October, 10th, 2011, TeenSHARP Youth Leadership Program student, Robert Adams, and TeenSHARP Early Action Network program student, Lara Abiona visited the University of Delaware to shadow an undergraduate student as part of TeenSHARP’s “Campus for the Day” initiative. Through the “Campus for the Day” initiative, all TeenSHARP high school students will have the opportunity to shadow a college student on campus during the 2011-2012 TeenSHARP program year.
Robert, a high school sophomore and 2nd year TeenSHARP student, was paired with Brennan Robinson, a senior majoring in political science and African American studies at the University of Delaware. Brennan is also a McNair Scholar and the Vice President of the Univ of Delaware Black Student Union. Lara, a high school senior, was paired with Nicole Mozee, a junior majoring in political science and Spanish, a “Blue Hen Ambassador,” and the President of the Campus Alliance De La Raza.
Robert and Lara were given a tour of the campus by their hosts for the day and then had the opportunity to attend classes with them. After attending classes such as, ‘Women in Global Context,” “International Human Rights,” and “African American Slave Literature,” Robert and Lara had lunch on campus, visited their hosts’ dorm rooms, and even had the opportunity to indulge in the University’s ‘UDairy’ ice cream!
